Still looking to spend some more of that dirty money from The Twilight Saga, Summit Entertainment is firing on all cylinders as it keeps adding project after project to their upcoming slate. Variety reports that the production company has taken on an adaptation of Top Cow’s comicbook Alibi, the story of a well-known socialite whose public presence establishes a perfect alibi for the covert activity of his secret twin brother, a government assassin. John Hlavin (recently hired to write a fourth Underworld film) will pen the script which is also being produced by Mandeville who just picked up the rights after Comic-Con earlier this year.
While the twin brother angle is a bit hokey, the premise itself has the makings of a fun action flick. Top Cow is operating under the assumption that the film can be just as profitable and drawing as last year’s assassin action romp Wanted, but depending on who’s attached to direct and star, that could be quite an optimistic thought. I’m not against more comic book adaptations as long as they’re interesting concepts such as this. And as long as they get enough studio support to turn out the way they should. Alibi sounds like it has some potential and we’ll be interested to hear more. Pick up a copy of the comic here. How about you guys?
