Snow White and the Huntsman

Let them come…” Universal has unleashed the second full-length trailer for Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman, in high def on Xfinity, first found via twitter. The trailer premiered at WonderCon, plus there is an “extended first look” here. This epic, dark, Lord of the Rings-like take on the classic fairytale stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth as the “Huntsman”, and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Everyone seemed excited by all the visuals in the first teaser trailer, and this one builds on those, giving us even more glimpses of how badass this looks and the awesome fight scenes we’ll see. n this new epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the Evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Hemsworth) who was dispatched to kill her. Actors Eddie Izzard, Ray Winstone, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Stephen Graham, Eddie Marsan and Ian McShane play dwarfs. This is being directed by Rupert Sanders, an acclaimed commercials director making his feature debut. Arrives in theaters on June 1st this summer.

The Dark Knight Leading Ladies Roles.

About a week ago, the slow news resulted in our reporting on a rumor that Charlize Theron and Vera Farmiga were being considered for a couple love interest roles for The Dark Knight Rises, the highly anticipated sequel from Christopher Nolan. However, the two actresses aren’t mentioned in a shortlist of actresses which Deadline says will be meeting with Nolan himself to be considered for two major female roles. One will be that of a love interest for Bruce Wayne and the other would be an unnamed villain. The usual suspects of leading ladies like Natalie Portman are mentioned as well as Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. More names below!
In addition, Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley and Blake Lively are also in the running for the unknown roles. While the previous rumor had mentioned one of the possible female leads being a love interest for Bruce Wayne, the other was the unlikely love interest for Commissionar Jim Gordon with no mention of any villain role in the mix. Lively could become DC Comics favorite leading lady if she snags the role to go with her major part in Green Lantern, but I’m sure many of these names are all the same actresses who get offered almost every female role aged below 30 years old.

Surely the speculation will begin as to which actress would look the hottest in the tight leather/spandex as Catwoman, but this isn’t a guarantee that the signature female villain will appear in the sequel. Many questions still remain including whether or not the film will again feature two villains and if Tom Hardy, already reported to have a major role in the sequel, will be one of them. I’ll leave the ongoing speculation of other female villains in the Batman universe to the hardcore fans. What female villain would you like to see in The Dark Knight

Rumored Roles For The Dark Knight Rises.

All the other blogs are reporting it’s a slow news week so far so let’s toss around some rumored names for Christopher Nolan’s recently titled sequel The Dark Knight Rises. It’s been mentioned elsewhere previously that Nolan has been meeting with actresses to take a lead female role in the anticipated franchise sequel. Obviously since Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) won’t return, at least one female lead role needs to show up, but a new rumor has two major female roles looking to be cast. Comic Book Movie reports Charlize Theron is being considered for one while Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Kacie Thomas (The Burning Plain) are up for the second. Read on!

Theron is apparently up for the role of Detective Sarah Essen, a love interest for Commissioner Jim Gordon. In the comics, Essen is partnered with Gordon and they begin a romantic affair. Theron seems a little young for Gordon, but maybe they’ll be changing the way she interacts with Gordon. Of course, there’s always the change this is simply a red herring and maybe Theron is up for playing Catwoman. I’m not at all against seeing Theron in some tight leather outfits.

Meanwhile, Farmiga and Thomas are both up for the role of Julie Madison, a love interest for Bruce Wayne. In the comics, Madison was a socialite once engaged to Bruce Wayne and thought she was unaware of his being Batman, she was used as a pawn by the vampiric villain Monk in his battle against the Caped Crusader. While the roles are certainly possibilities, these are definitely rumors at this point, and likely these characters could end up having a completely different impact on the story in the film than they have previously had on the comic books. We’ll likely be hearing some official casting for The Dark Knight Rises soon enough so stay tuned.
